Self sufficient

“Having a low opinion of yourself is not ‘modesty.’ It’s self-destruction. Holding your uniqueness in high regard is not ‘egotism.’ It’s a necessary precondition to happiness and success.”

It is rare to find a person who does not base their self-importance on the opinions of others. We seek to please. It is that desire to belong, to be accepted, and in a sense to be loved that drives our interaction with others.

“If you fuel your journey on the opinions of others, you are going to run out of gas.”

Without acceptance many people lose their sense of identity, become discouraged,  depressed, and in extreme cases commit suicide.

What if we became self sufficient in our happiness. What if we didn’t need the affirmation of others to be content. What if we weren’t searching for wealth, education, or relationships to make us happy. What if us accepting ourselves was enough.
